How to create Instagram-ready packaging

How to create Instagram-ready packaging In the Age of Instagram, well-designed, beautiful packaging is being shared across social media almost as much as the product and purchase itself. Many social media influencers are using distinct luxury packaging as props for their carefully curated Instagram photos – presenting brands with a great opportunity to increase brand awareness. Robert Lockyer, CEO at Delta Global, a packaging supplier for the luxury retail sector, argues that brands need to be acutely aware of current Instagram-related trends and themes as it is increasingly becoming the medium through which consumers receive their first impressions of a product. Minimalism and simplicity Something that will never go out of fashion is simple, minimalist packaging. Sleek monochrome packaging with a clean, unfussy logo can be used time and...

Instagram is going to explain why some accounts always show up in your feed

Instagram is going to start explaining why you always see the same accounts in your feed. It’s also going to start telling users which accounts they interact with least as part of new organisational tools to help people use the app. The Facebook-owned platform said the update would help Instagram users better see and manage who they follow on the site and keep what they see on the app relevant and interesting. App users will then be able to edit their following list from there, Instagram said, muting or unfollowing...

How to change your Instagram username

How to change your Instagram username Some social platforms limit the number of times you can change your username, while others don’t let you do it at all. Instagram is a username free-for-all; you can alter your Instagram handle whenever you want, as many times as you want. There’s a difference between your username and your display name. The display name is on your profile below your avatar. It doesn’t need to be unique to you, and it can contain emoji and special characters. (And yes, it can also be changed.) Your username, on the other hand, appears at the top of your profile and at the end of your profile’s URL. It needs to be unique to you. It’s...

How to Build an Authentic Instagram Audience

How to Build an Authentic Instagram Audience As a writer, landing a book deal has always been a huge goal of mine. But in early conversations with literary agents, much of the feedback was the same: “Your book idea is great,” they'd say. “But you need to grow your following significantly in order for us to sell this to a publisher.” When I started those meetings, I had just under 5K Instagram followers, and I realized I needed to get real about growing an audience before I could try again. But I also recognized that it’s not enough to simply have a large following. Your audience needs to be engaged and invested in the content you’re creating. Vanity metrics won’t work for this one: If...

Apple pulls app that let you stalk people you follow on Instagram

Apple pulls app that let you stalk people you follow on Instagram In October, Instagram phased out the “Following” tab. That’s because it shared a lot of information about what your friends and the people you follow were doing on the social network — maybe too much — and Instagram said some people were surprised their activity was showing up there. And now, the company is apparently keeping others from re-creating that idea: Apple has removed Like Patrol from the App Store, according to CNET. At the end of October, Instagram sent a cease-and-desist letter to Like Patrol, an app described by its maker as the Following tab “on steroids,” and on Saturday, Apple reportedly removed it from its iOS marketplace entirely. Like Patrol went beyond the...
